Hafsat Abiola wrote An Open Letter To Nigeria’s President.

Hafsat Abiola is a human rights, civil rights and democracy activist, founder of the Kudirat Initiative for Democracy (KIND), and daughter of late business man/politician, MKO Abiola. Her letter below; Dear President, As young global leaders we would like to express our deep concern about the recent situations in Nigeria. The massacre in Baga has been Boko Haram’s deadliest so far and what has it met with? Your silence. Most disturbing still is the fact that you would send a message to France condemning the killings there, yet seem unable to address the Nigerian people who look to you for leadership.  Unfortunately, it would not be the first time, On 10 November 2014 a suicide bomber killed 47 people and injured 79 others. The following day, with barely a mention of this horrific incident targetting children, you launched your re-election campaign. And despite the ease with which you move on, even you will remember the abduction of the schoolgirls in Chibok in April las

How Long Will Nigerians Remain Fools? – Etcetera Speaks

In Nigeria, there are three classes of people: The Masses, The Politicians, and The Rich. The masses are the puppets, the politicians the hand that controls the puppets and the rich the hand that controls the politicians. The politicians have the system totally rigged in their favour. They have made it compulsory for the masses to vote from a list selected by them knowing that as blind as the masses are, they may never realise they can actually have a choice. In the upcoming presidential election, the masses have been given no choice but to choose between two candidates forced upon them by the politicians. What if Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan are not exactly what the masses want? Are we going to have recourse when they fail as they always do, to honour their promises? There seems to be a spot in every Nigerian, a soft spot in our consciousness like the one in a baby’s head, which, if pressed or stroked in the right way, reduces us to giggling children with mouths fu

Why Young Nigerian Girls Marry Older Men

The idea of a younger woman marrying a much older man and vice versa is nothing new. In fact, the society we live in makes it very easy for older men to have very young brides, though the concept of older women getting young husbands is not very common. It is often easier for an older man married to a young to be accepted than for a mature woman with younger male partner. Discussing with some of our readers, majority said it was okay for an older man to marry a young wife but not okay for an older woman to take up a young husband. Most of the ladies said they can marry someone over 10-years older. Some said they were already married to men much older than they are and they are enjoying their marriage. The men however had a different view, saying they can’t marry an older woman because she might have hit menopause and won’ be able to give bear children. But why do younger people go for the older people. This question is one that has been pondered by many. Below

Sheikh Ahmad Discloses Why God Is Punishing Nigerians With Bad Leaders

The Chief Missioner of Ansar-ur-deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abd’Rahman Ahmad, has said that the bad leadership being currently observed in Nigeria is the straight consequence of the disobedience of Nigerians, both followers and prospective leaders, to God. Sheikh Ahmad while speaking at the Prayer for the Nation 2015, organised by the Fatima Charity Foundation in Lagos, said Nigeria has arrived that saturation point where the people would begin to desire for a change in administration. He said Nigerians should know that they share a major part of the blames for separating themselves from God. Ahmad said: ‘Committing Nigeria To The Hands Of God: What Are The Roles Of The Leadership And The Citizenry ?’.  Separately from turning away from God, people now believe and trust men like them and have prospered in turning such men into their gods. Emphasizing that a society gets the kind of leader it earns, he questioned how a country’s leader would announce before the wh

Not people of my age, we are gone… that is why I said I am addressing people from the ages 18-23 those who are voting for the first time, we believe that you people will take us to the moon. My generation has failed we couldn’t take Nigeria to the moon.” Fashola argued however: “He (Jonathan) said his generation has failed, he should account for himself because I refuse to join the generation the President was referring to. “He is in his 50s, I am also in my 50s, and we appe

Wizkid, Olamide, Basketmouth Will Not Vote In 2015 Elections

Just as many are counting down to the general elections (35 days left), news coming in has revealed that three of Nigeria’s top entertainers will be missing in action on February 14, the date assigned for Nigeria’s presidential elections. The three Nigerian celebrities are Olamide, Wizkid and Basketmouth. They will not be voting for either PDP or APC. Reason why they will not be voting has nothing to do with any political leanings or belief. Their non-participation in the elections has to do with a show in the UK where they will be performing on that same day.
