We didn't reach agreement to suspend strike, FG lied. - ASUU

THE Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has denied that it reached an agreement with the federal government to suspend its ongoing strike on December 9, 2020. The Union insisted that contrary to insinuation to that effect, there was never an understanding with the government that it would suspend the over 9 months old action on the said date. President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi in a statement made available to newsmen Wednesday night, said ASUU representatives do not have the powers to suspend or call off industrial action but must follow due process which includes transmitting the outcome of negotiations to members and National Executive Council (NEC) of ASUU for further deliberations and actions. Marketers of Cooking Gas Blame Increasing Prices On Importation

  Cooking gas marketers on Wednesday blamed its increasing prices on massive importation, causing anguish to end users.In the past few weeks, it costs between N4,200 and N4,500 to refill a 12.5kg cylinder of cooking gas, up from between N3,600 and N3,800.Mr Bassey Essien, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers, said in a statement is Lagos that “Nigeria consumes about one million metric tonnes of cooking gas annually, but 65 per cent of it is imported. “The CBN has no dedicated window for foreign exchange for cooking gas importers, hence the sourcing of foreign exchange at a high price which ultimately dictates the price the product gets to consumers.“This brings to the fore, our persistent request for the full domestication of cooking gas supply to guide against price manipulations by international market and foreign exchange forces. Jimi Agbaje Promises Free Internet Access To Lagosians If He Wins.

The Governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Jimi Agbaje has promised to offer free internet access in the state if elected. He assured that Lagosians would no longer pay for internet connection once he becomes Governor.
